My Girl
Walking home, I was flabbergasted to find Caroline outside, (which means she negotiated several flights of the spiral fire escape!!) chatting with some local campus cats, and generally enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. She never fails to surprise me. Last night I thought I was losing her. This stubborn, independent, clever and proud, wise and beautiful girl might be 17 and gently failing (she's hardly moved or eaten enough for a sparrow this last week), but today she showed me that there's life in the old girl yet. So, I sat with her in the garden for more than an hour, she ate a little, and purred a lot, until finally the sun had gone down and so we both came indoors.
