600 up - Here be dragons

Revisited a reserve near Doncaster where I checked a walk a few weeks ago. I wanted to re-check the walk, as I had problems with the directions, but I also wanted to show Pete the area as I really liked it. Also, there had been sightings of an osprey fishing on the flash, but as our hopes of seeing it weren't high, we weren't too disappointed to find it seemed to have departed very early this morning. We really enjoyed the walk. Bird highlights included cormorants and a blackcap, we saw a grass snake swimming in the river and there were a few comma and speckled wood butterflies around, but by far the best sightings were huge numbers of dragonflies - banded demoiselles, common and ruddy darters, brown and southern hawkers and this migrant hawker - I think - still not 100% confident on dragonflies - which Pete spotted hanging accommodatingly in a tree, allowing me to take lots of photos, and even to change to my macro lens to get very close indeed. if you prefer your dragonflies at a safe distance, then you can see it here or if you want to scare yourself more, you can embiggify
This is my 600th consecutive blip, so a good moment to thank people for their kind comments, stars etc, and say how much I enjoy being part of the blip community.
