Why so shy?

I spotted this dragonfly when I was taking a dog back to the sanctuary after our walk at the park this afternoon. Luckily it was still there when I rushed back as I'd hoped it would be and I managed to get a few shots before it flew off. Unfortunately it was holding one of its wings in front of its face in the best one, making it look as if it was being shy to have its picture taken.
