Buxheimer Haus
Forgot to mention that on Monday, following my tractor driving last Friday, twenty odd good sized kidney stones appeared. I had not noticed any pains whatsoever over the weekend but something that I can't explain, made me get out the "Uro-Sieve". And sure enough there they were, the biggest being about 6mm diameter. So yet again the best treatment for me remains tractor driving!
Today to continue the medical theme, took the dogs for a walk in Erkheim and collected a "Referral Note" from my GP for an afternnon quarterly check up at my internist specialist, Officiall one doesn't need such a note but it makes life easier as the specialist is then required to give the GP a written report of any treatment/medication required and thus makes getting future prescriptions easier as the GP doesn't need to ask why.
As it was, the check up was yet again simply a pleasant chat and no need for any medication. The internist is in Memmingen and so I took the opportunity to try and get some of the administrative tasks I need to get done for my personal Brexit sorted. A visit to the local adult education centre to book an examination and a fruitless attempt top get some forms from the branch of our county council offices in Memmingen. Although Memmingen is geographically in our county, it is an independent council. Our county has a small representation there mainly for vehicle registration matters which saves people the 30km to our county's "capital" town of Mindelheim.
As the building is in the city centre, did a bit of wandering and amongst others, discovered a second Irish pub which has recently opened and have now heard is rather good, especially popular with the single ladies as one of the barmen is apparently very "interesting".
The Blip is of what is called the Buxheimer House. Buxheim is just outside the city's limits and the home of a large Carthusian monastery. The words painted on the house say:
"Buxheimer Haus bin ich benannt,
als Lindenhof wohl auch bekannt,
in Gottes Schutz ich standen bin,
mög es so bleiben auch fürderhin."
which translates to something like "I'm named Buxheimer House perhaps also known as Linderhof, I have stood in God's protection, and hopefully so it will be in the future."
The lower words say:
"Ritter Heinrich von Eisenburg verkaufte dieses Haus im Jahre 1406 to the Karthäuserkloster Buxheim in dessen Besitz es bis zur Säkularisation im 1806 veblieb."
Or
Knight Henry of Eisenburg sold this house in 1406 to the Carthusian Monastery Buxheim who owned it until Secularisation in 1806.
There is so much to see in Memmingen and the city has done much to renovate so much of the old central city. I was very pleased this week when daughter Kate mentioned on the phone she would like to spend some time looking around when she is next over ...... in just a few weeks! Yippeeeeeeeee
