A Work in Progress

A glorious Spring day, so understandably it was very busy at Longshaw. I escaped for a couple of hours to recce one of the areas I'm surveying. This is part of the Sheffield Plantation, which was thinned out of some of its conifers and replanted with fewer native trees to create a habitat known as Woodland Pasture. It looks a bit untidy at the moment, but nature is already softening the edges. The pasture part is also taking shape, as I encountered several sheep which had drifted in from the more open pasture. There are no footpaths in this part of the estate so I had it pretty much to myself.
