Day 15
A lovely bright morning, but very chilly, with ice even on the inside of the van windows! Makes for a brisk start when you are desperate to get the kettle on and the place warmed up. Quite a thought to take one’s night layers off and put day clothes on in these temperatures, but I have found it is possible to do a lot of this while still inside one’s sleeping bag! Easy for me, but trickier for Mike, being a good 10 inches taller!
Mike was keen to show me Lybster Harbour where he’d ended a yacht race many years ago, and then been treated to a shower and slap up breakfast at the Portland Arms nearby. It is a lovely little harbour, very neat and trim. Great to see a working harbour with fishing boats still in evidence, rather than just pleasure craft.
Headed north to Gills Bay to catch the ferry home, stopping only at Homebase on the way! Weather still sunny and bright by the time we got home. Got the washing machine on and nipped along the road to see elderly neighbours and collect our mail.
While we have been away B has been given the definite diagnosis of dementia. A good thing in that now various help and care packages can be channelled their way, but to have it official is a bit dispiriting for her and her husband. Ollie did his best to cheer them up and everyone was happy when we left. Dogs are good at that sort of a thing.
