Flower Friday : : Cala Lilies
It's raining again. This day's worth of precipitation should put us over the top for the most rain ever in one year since records have been kept, (which isn't all that long by European standards, I suppose, but maybe weather records are a different thing from the age of structures like Hadrian's Wall or Viking ruins in The Hebrides.) There is a stunning flowering crabapple tree down the street, but I couldn't face going outside to take its picture, so I settled for these Cala lilies that Dana trekked down into our gully to pick and arrange in a vase about a week ago. Both the tree and the lilies have held up beautifully considering the awful weather....
I sat and knitted and listened to the news from Washington...all of it bringing the words "I told you so" to mind and several times to my lips, The sad thing is that it comes only sixty days into a four year presidency. Donald Trump prides himself on the art of the deal, yet he couldn't even sell his health care law to a Republican Congress which tried FIFTY FIVE TIMES to repeal The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Looks like Trump's version is (was) The Who Cares Act. As one pundit said, "The Republican Party is the party of NO" They are an opposition party that doesn't know how to step up and take responsibility for governing when they are in power." I could but laugh when I heard Trump blame the Democrats for the failure of his first real piece of legislation to pass.
I wonder how long it will be before Trump decides he doesn't want to play anymore and takes his toys and goes home....
Thanks to Biker Bear for the always wonderful Flower Friday challenge. And Thanks to Blip Central for putting all the challenges in one place...Blipfoto just keeps getting better and better....
