monumental

I went to Woodside Cemetery in Paisley on a whim, and what a place it is. It's not old as Scottish graveyards go, but it's an absolute treasure trove of nineteenth and early twentieth century gravestones, with something to puzzle over in every row and corner. At the highest point -  which was clearly of the highest status - there are two rows of huge, expensive monument stones: towering, effusive, and overdone in the Victorian way. They are a testament to what a wealthy and important town Paisley was in the nineteenth century.

A few more in the extras, including an angel that is pleasingly  less soppy-looking than graveyard angels usually are.
