Finishing Touches

This is actually a painting by artist Mairi Aitken. The title is 'Market in the Square, Venice' . It measures 116cm by 98cm and I think its a beauty.

I was taking a quick picture of it today to publicise a forthcoming exhibition of the GSWA (Glasgow Society of Women Artists). Originally established in 1882 by eight of the first women students at the Glasgow School of Art, the Glasgow Society Of Lady Artists flourished until 1971 when sadly it was disbanded due to financial pressures. However it was revived in 1975 as the Glasgow Society Of Women Artists. They allow one new intake per year in September.

The exhibition in early October will take place in the Lillie Art Gallery, Station Road, Milngavie.
