Between fen and mountains

Ancient structures

Today I notice is a blip birthday. I passed beneath this bridge on a walk this morning and I wondered at the endeavour required to build it. It carries a path just wide enough for a person to walk on and perhaps a sure footed donkey but even that I doubt. It leads to a few rough fields barely worth cultivating and to another mountain village a couple of miles away. I often come across structures in isolated and inaccessible places and imagine the effort required to build them. Obviously, at the time, the labour was considered worthwhile. Perhaps there is a parallel with blipping. You just keep plodding on, hoping that it is all worthwhile and that something of value results. Fortunately, it is probably easier and more fun than bridge building!
