Chipmunk!
Wednesday
The blue sky and sunshine today was somewhat deceiving, as it was still quite cold. However, even though it will be warming up considerably over the next few days, there will also be more cloud cover, so I decided today was a day for walking outside, rather than going to the gym or the pool. I went walking on the Little Miami bike trail, north from Loveland, and it turned out to be a lovely walk. I was treated to the sight of a group of three deer, this delightful chipmunk, and a variety of bird life - vultures soaring overhead, the red-bellied and the less common pileated woodpecker, a blue jay, a couple of groups of chickadees flitting about in the trees, a Carolina wren and another as yet unidentified bird, some sort of sparrow I believe, as well as the common American Robin and the cardinal. I was able to get a photograph of one of the deer, the pileated woodpecker and the unidentified sparrow, but the other birds unfortunately didn't cooperate! There weren't many people out on the trail, a couple of cyclists, a couple of lady runners and a lone man - and that was pretty much it. I walked for a total of 5 miles, then it was high time to return to the mundane tasks of grocery shopping and preparing dinner!
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families of today's horror in Westminster. In despair at the state of the world today.
