Nissetter
A cold day, but it's been mostly sunny, with an odd snow shower.
Up early, and Laura, Shaun and Eve came by after breakfast, and we all headed to the Scalloway kirk for auntie Binnie's funeral. The burial was in the Ollaberry graveyard, and when the prayers started, so did the snow. This was very fitting, as uncle Bertie used to call her the Snowy Owl, a pet name he gave her for her snow white hair, and was like he was there with us. A sad day, but full of happy memories and great to see family, especially those who came home from south. Been along friends this afternoon, and walkies with Sammy. Off to work in the pub later.
After we left the family at the hall, a peerie run about Ollaberry and to the old family homestead. This is were grandad Mitchell great up, along with auntie Binnie and the rest of the family. Mam also spent holidays etc here with her grandparents, but I never got to see the old family home, as it was demolished and grand uncle Andrew built his family home here, as seen today. I can just imagine the happy peerie bairns running around here, I do have plenty of family photos to look through. Taken at Nissetter, Gluss.
