Irresistible
I choose the photos I blip for many and varied reasons. When I started out I had the aim of posting a photograph taken while on my daily run. Within a few days, I had posted another, as I was unhappy with the quality of the "run-pic". That continues to happen, despite my preference for a "run-pic". On other occasions, there is something particular about the non running photo that appeals for the blip.
Back in Auckland after four days in the Blue Mountains, I wanted a picture to show Auckland, and on my run got a picture of the Harbour Bridge; quintessentially Auckland, and bathed in gentle morning sunlight. The choice of S.
However, this evening the sunset gave a beautiful sky, enhanced by the variety of types, shapes and colours of the clouds. I liked the way that the Waitemata Harbour is seen as little more than a thin silver sliver. However, the aspect of this which became irresistible (leading to not taking the recommendation of S, after due consideration), is the crane.
It is stark, hard, linear, and "non organic" in contrast to the sky the water and the western part of the city. It is helping in the building of yet another block of apartments which undoubtedly will be bought (or rented) by young people attracted to the city fringe, as it is known. Walking distance to the business centre, lots of buses if walking is not your thing, and cafes in great profusion.
This is the Auckland where I stay. This is why I stay here.
