Brodick, Arran
What a day! D#1 and I woke up to sunshine again and said goodbye to the ancient modern standing stones at Kildonan. (They certainly weren't there in the 80s.)
Our ferry wasn't due to leave until lunchtime, so we spent an hour climbing through forest to the spectacular Glenashdale Falls near Whiting Bay. Those photos went straight into the bin - I can't do running water.
It was while we recovered over a hot chocolate in The Coffee Pot that I received a text from Calmac saying that our ferry had been cancelled due to a technical problem, so we made our way to the ferry terminal at Brodick, only to be told that the next ferry at 4ish was fully booked and we'd have to wait until the last one at 8ish.
There are worse places in the world than Brodick to be stranded! Although we had seen the weather forecast last night, the sight of the Arran mountains covered in snow was still a lovely surprise - see extra - and, having heard about conditions on the mainland, we were extremely lucky.
I eventually reached Pookie's at 10.30pm and she was fine about it, but I'd had to arrange for Minty to stay for a sleepover. He was delighted!
