Sub Station City
This massive compound is thankfully hidden from view from most visitors to the nearby "touristy" village. Fort Augustus is more famous for its impressive section of canal locks allowing ships to drop in altitude from Loch Oich to Loch Ness.
This is part of the highly controversial Beauly to Denny power line. South of here it marches north for miles along the A9, leaves at Dalwhinnie and follows the old military road through Glen Shero, the Corrieyerack Pass to Fort Augustus. It rises behind me passing Millennium Wind Farm then drops across Glen Moriston. I seem to have worked on sites near to its route on dozens of occassions now.
