Elephant bath time

Having fun in between lots of scrubbing!

Took a gentle dugout canoe trip down river today in the dawn mist for ¾ of an hour - lots of different kingfishers and other birds to see. We sat on legless chairs in the bottom and were told to keep our arms in for fear of marsh muggers (their name for local crocodiles). Then we started a 3 hour walk through the jungle with a guide with a stick in front and behind – but we never saw anything except a few birds.  It was more of a quick march than my kind of walk looking at bits and pieces but luckily I was doing just that, lagging behind with the guide when the 4 Dutch tourists with me all came screaming back towards us with the second guide, flailing their arms and flapping their jackets over their heads - they were being attacked by a swarm of bees. Yelling at them to lie down my guide threw a lighter to the guide with them and he quickly lit a fire of leaves, making lots of smoke.  We spent sometime pulling little pulsing bee stings out of ears, hair and fingers and luckily I had some antihistamine cream which seemed to help. After lunch I went on another jeep safari outing when we saw two one horned rhino, bison and lots of deer. The Chinese girl sitting beside me spent all her time on her two phones and 4 Danish youths laughed and talked all the way so not exactly a thrilling 4 hours. This evening the frogs in the adjacent 4 rice paddies are yelling fit to bust and the little fireflies are flicking on and off as if in sympathy. Pics here
