Remember When...

...it was exciting to find bell peppers (UK sweet pepper or pepper, France poivron) in your local store in "traffic light colors" -- green, yellow, and red?

I enjoyed using those peppers to brighten many different dishes, from salads (yellow and red peppers) to scrambled eggs (green and red peppers). Then orange peppers became widely available, broadening the trio to a quartet. More fun!

At the farmers' market last Saturday, I found another color to add to the mix -- purple! This is one of the most beautiful peppers I've ever seen, and it will contrast beautifully with the green, yellow, orange, and red ones.

Some of the farmers are growing Cubanelle peppers, similar to bell peppers in taste, but long in shape, like the one you see here. They're easy to slice, and go from this soft yellow-green color to bright red when they are fully ripe.

It's easy to eat more vegetables when they're as beautiful as these!

(I made blackberry crisp for lunch today, using the berries Phil picked yesterday. Yum!)
