Thank You For the Days ..

Old Parish Church, Kelso

To Kelso today to buy miso and giant couscous - articles which don't feature in our local Co-op. TM, who does most of the cooking round here, has been online researching recipes again.

The church is near the Abbey ruins . It is set in a large churchyard and gravestones going back two centuries or more chronicle  the life of the town.  The footpaths that criss-cross it are useful  short cuts, and in summer customers from the local pubs use the outer edges as a beer garden. It feels right that it still plays a part in the life of the community.

No doubt some of the stone from the older building was used when this was built. It doesn't show in the picture, but it is octagonal in shape, which is quite unusual. The interior is also eight-sided, but the gallery no longer goes right round, sadly.
