Keighley Now and Then

A lovely afternoon in Keighley.  This is the War Memorial in Town Hall Square along with a scan of a postcard by Lilywhite of Brighouse dated around 1920.
In the old photograph the imposing building on the left (with the clock tower) was the Mechanics Institute which suffered a catastrophic fire in 1962 and was completely demolished in 1967. The building to the right was the United Methodist Free Church and this was demolished in 1950 to make way for the building of Keighley College.
The building that was built on the old Mechanics Institute site was also a Keighley College building, the demolition of which is currently underway.
Lots of changes in Keighley.
