After spending christmas and new year in Florida last year, our family resumed their annual New Year party celebrations tonight with another good turnout. It's more of an extended family & friends thing, and folk had ventured up from as far as London. I bet they wished they had gone to the street party after enduring my uncle's renditions of "Living on a prayer" and "Dancing in the Dark" (billing himself as "Jon Bob Jobi" and "Burst Springsteen" respectively).
Maybe I'm getting old, but I was thinking to myself that next year, it would be great to hire a wee cottage somewhere up north, and have something of a more low-key new year. Now, where did I put my pipe and slippers....
