Puzzled Swans?
We took a shortish walk today past to the small lake. As we went by we spotted these swans grouped on the snow-covered ice.
The swans are migrating northwards just now and I guess these swans have just arrived and expected there to be water here. I'm fairly sure they'll fly back south a short way, back to some open water, and wait a while before continuing their northern journey.
They seemed to have different attitudes to their problem. One just sat there in the sun. One preened. The three in the middle walked back and forth, looking at each other as they did so.
Were they puzzled? I don't know. Maybe they were thinking; "Where's the water?" Or perhaps; "Drat, we got here too soon." Or were they just on an outing; "That was a nice scenic flight. We'll just sit in the sun a while here and then head back to the open lake."
Today's Dolomite backblip are here.
