Hands at the Henry
Our field trip with Fiona this Friday was to try the Henry Gallery again. (Last Friday it was suddenly closed). She was happy to see the ( "man who paints from his wheelchair") Chuck Close exhibition again. We had to look from far away and then up close ( her directions) ... This self portrait is an amazing damask tapestry. One of the new exhibits was a very strange installation called "Fun: No Fun"by a group of artist-architect friends, part of which were 2 wooden stairways. This one is a circular stairway that she and Boppa are making into her own art piece. ( his hands on top, hers lower). I asked her if this whole thing was ART and should be in a museum and she thot for awhile and said, well
It's like a sculpture and she liked it. The 3rd is from inside the permanent James Turrell's skyspace we always have to visit , looking at the old entrance to the Henry. We are in a "space capsule with 24 hrs of no gravity. " Also a stop at the Henry cafe for a snack for her and a coffee for us!
Then home to knit on a loom , draw, color in a book, watch 2 episodes of a silly Netflix kids show, get Boppa to tell her a long scary story which was never scary enough, ( her version was gruesome ) and illustrate it on the iPad, play a hiding game, have a little pizza. Took her home and then all I could do was sit on the couch with the iPad and not move.
Really enjoying watching Madam Secretary and as with West Wing, wishing it was the real stuff.
