First Light

I'm sure there was a time when the only way I'd see the first sunrise of the new year was if I'd stayed up all night. But that seems such a long time ago, the memory is as hazy and indistinct as this shadow from the Christmas tree.

How thoughtful of the kids to get me up in time to catch the first light this morning though.
