Artist Point Walk

Today Arvin and I drove up Mount Baker Highway to the end of the road at Artist Point. It is in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. We walked up the path. There was still lots of snow even with only .01 inches of rain for the entire month of August. There were lots of people on the path. This is the last weekend before school starts and people were taking advantage of the perfect weather. We walked almost to the top of the path. There is a reflecting pond just beneath the last bit of the trail. That is where this photo was taken. The ripples were from a small boy tossing stones into the water. Where there are small boys, stones and water, there are always ripples from the stones hitting the water. This photo is worth a look in large. More photos from the walk are here.

After the walk we drove back down to Il Cafe Refugio, a wonderful Italian restaurant. I wanted to pick up one of my paintings that are on display there so I could submit it to a show of Bellingham PAPO (plein air paint out) pieces that will be displayed in the Bellingham City Hall. There was a blank spot on the wall. (Not the piece I wanted to pick up and did, but another painting.) The reason was that it had sold! Boy was that a lovely surprise. So I will have a check coming in the mail soon. The owner of the restaurant was very busy so I suggested he send me the check rather than try to locate it in the midst of the chaos. We had a delicious celebratory dinner: baked wild salmon with bechemel sauce, fresh veggies, corn soup and a delicious fennel salad. For desert carrot and blueberry cake. Yum! What a delightful day.
