Mono/derelict moan
This is definitely not in my comfort zone - I don't really do still life.
However it is a photo of my desk (teacup not actually in daily use, I go for big mugs of coffee or builders tea).
Although I do really enjoy some of the lovely, wistful derelict images, there is a not so picturesque side of dereliction, and it is the rotting, tottering, industrial sites left in our post industrial cities. Dangerous, toxic, unsightly, and incredibly expensive for local authorities to clean up. In theory the costs of doing so should be recovered from the owners, but in practice the legal tools are often not adequate, especially if the owners are offshore, heavily veiled, ever shifting corporate entities.
