Variation on a theme
As the days get longer and plants are showing more and more signs of growth, it becomes easier to just step into the garden and find something to photograph for blip. I just thought I would try and vary the daffodil theme by changing it to a fairly dramatic black and white.
It seems as if politics is just becoming more and more aggressive and controversial all the time, so I think I will stick to photographing non controversial things. Having said that, there is a programme about photography on BBC4 at 9 pm and I saw the first episode last week. They looked at the work of the Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron among others, and her controversial use of soft focus when photographing people. Apparently when she was adjusting the focus on her camera, she would focus only till she thought the image looked beautiful, and so to modern eyes many of her images look too blurry. It was an interesting comment when you consider the obsession with sharpness nowadays.
