Dolomites hiding in the cloud

We started our first day skiing in falling snow with clouds not far above us. We could hardly see the snow in front of us, far less the mountains we knew were around us.
However, the forecast was good and as predicted the day steadily improved. First the mountains revealed themselves as grey shapes in the cloud, shapes that appeared momentarily and then were gone (see extra). Then blue sky started to appear and we could see the high mountains, through drifting windows in the cloud.
There is something magical about these days when you see the mountains and valleys in glimpses and slowly build a picture of what is around you.
