real men wear babies

The title refers to a hashtag I stumbled upon over on instagram today which made me chuckle :)

Gosh my boys are inseparable. Put a very tired Charley to bed this evening while Ben was still entertaining and being entertained by his grandparents. He woke up a bit later (as usual) and started to cry. It became screaming. He didn't want a boob. Didn't want a boob. That's unheard of, for either of my booby babies. He screamed and hollered until I wrapped him up and took him outside for a quick walk hoping to calm him down - he calmed down alright but something was still very wrong, he kept bursting into tears. Got home, where Ben had suddenly decided he wanted Mama and bed and was also in tears, took Charley up to bed and now he's with Ben it's ok again and he can sleep!! That's it then - Ben can't have any more sleepovers until Charley can cope without him.... It's almost like a separation anxiety, but around Ben. My poor little sausages!

You may have noticed I'm having trouble keeping up with blipping recently! It's partly to do with the office move in our house, partly extra work, partly this and that. And I'm missing my camera like mad and hope it comes home soon!! And of course if I don't write my journal on the day, I've forgotten most of it by the next day... I'm catching up slowly!

So - that's right. Gran and Grandad are here! Staying in a B&B. Ben is beside himself with excitement! The final cocktail stick was pulled out of his little potato calendar this afternoon and he's been standing in the window, waiting for them to arrive. All thoughts of naps and boby cuddles went out of the window when they arrived, unsurprisingly!

Charley has been on yet another one-nap strategy today. I wish he'd give in and sleep in the afternoon more easily. I'd rather he napped, and went to bed a bit later, than be clingy and grouchy all afternoon! His nap this morning was in the mei tai, on Steve. Fell asleep before the church meeting began, slept the whole way through, woke up at the end in time for Steve to offload him to me so he could help with packing down! Perfect! It also meant I was able to be in one of the bands, singing, for the first time in over nine months. It is good to be "back"! And what a band to be singing with. Kelly, Stuart, Luke, Paige, Zoe and Len. Fabulous!

This afternoon, along with making brownie cakes and pizzas, I've started sorting out the craft drawers and tidying the kitchen table again. Now we have some storage we need to start using it effectively. Hopefully it won't take me all morning to prep something next time Ben shows interest in making something!

Been experimenting with enamel paints on crockery the past couple of days. Think I've sussed the paint now - even if it is touch dry in half an hour, it still needs fixing in the oven before I can take my sharpie to it, otherwise the solvent-based sharpie tries to dissolve the water-based enamel! Fun times :D Loving playing. Really hope that what I'm doing is good enough to sell!
