Here be dragons!
Another great day of photographing insects, this time around Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park, where we drove to today to collect a piece of furniture. Afterwards, we took a walk out on the track from the National Trust for Scotland's Linn of Dee car park, towards the Lairig Ghru pass. As well as photographing a dung beetle (which I'll post on Twitter later) and some bumblebees, I found this dragonfly sunning itself on a flat rock, out of the stiff breeze. I think it is a black darter, Sympetrum danae. It is a species of bog pools and we were walking through an area of heather and wetlands above the floodplain of the River Dee.
