Today we went into the old town part of Dubrovnik and saw some of the sights. Not as much as we had planned as it was rather hot and sunny (I know) to be trudging around for hours.
We went to the old Franciscan monestry which contains what is claimed to be the oldest pharmacy. After this, and much searching, we found the war photography gallery which was currently dedicated (appropriately) to the wars following the breakup of Yugoslavia. The main exhibition was Emmanuel Ortiz's documentary photographs of the wars in Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. Incredibly powerful.
After this we went to a Bosnia restaurant and had an amazing delicious meal.
We t hen curtailed our exploration of the old town and as we were very hot and sweaty we went back to our residence to pick up swimming th ings.
on the walk back we came across a very tempting fig tree overhanging the road. We realised that by throwing my sandal at the tall branches we could knock down the tasty ripe fruit. We ate many.
We finished off the day with a swim and snorkel in the very deep water below the city, then lots of fresh borek.
