After an agonising night I thought I had better get the knee checked out, so managed, with a walking stick and a hubby's arm to lean on, to get myself to the GP. He sent us over to the injuries unit in Bantry.  
After an xray and a thorough examination the verdict is that it's soft tissue damage only.  Rest, painkillers and a very unflattering support stocking. And crutches. Great.

Oddly, Freddie chose today to finally let go and launch himself off on his own two feet,  properly walking at last, after weeks of tentatively taking only two or three steps at a time.
