Tate Britain Blipmeet

An action packed Blipmeet day with miles and miles of walking.  I am exhausted and looking forward to a recovery day tomorrow in front of the computer!

The day started with a gathering outside  the White Swan pub not far from Tate Britain in London.  There were quite a  few of us - I lost count - hanging around waiting for the pub to open, as Blippers do!  Once inside, we took over a significant part of the establishment and ended up with a lovely lunch and a thorough catch up with everyone.  The aim of the meet was to see the David Hockney exhibition so off we trekked with our timed tickets in hand.  I drifted around in Tate Britain for a bit before venturing into the exhibition as I love the building's architecture. The view looking up from the spiral staircase makes my blip for today.

The Hockney Gallery was so busy though, that I quickly exited, and will  return another time when the throngs have died down a bit.  Some of Hockney's work is stunning, but it's large and needs to be viewed from a distance - impossible with the numbers of public that were allowed in - so busy that it was almost impossible to move.  I will return.

By this time many of the group had dispersed and a few others had to dash away to get the off-peak return trains.  So a small group of us headed off along the river bank to catch the activity on the Thames and some of the buildings.  I will add in an extra of one block of flats, curved in such as way that there was the optical illusion of a spiral like the pole outside a barber's.

We wanted to end up back at St Paul's to see the display of daffodils for Marie Curie funds. It was a long walk and we frequently said 'It had better be good'.  It wasn't!  A few plastic daffs but not impressive.  We went to catch our trains.

A great day just proving what an amazing community can be forged in Blip - many thanks to Hildasrose for her valiant efforts to 'herd the cats' again.  I'll update the link with her blip from today when she has posted it.
