Swans, geese and . . . ?

(You might have to look quite carefully.
I've changed the photo as the one I had wasn't clear enough)

A very different day in Keswick, weather-wise anyway – cloudy and damp. But not unpleasant and there were lots of words inside so that was okay.

This morning we went to a talk about Birds of Prey. This was not something I would have chosen necessarily, but Gordon wanted to go, so I thought I would go along with him. It was excellent. The guy had travelled the whole country in search of our native birds of prey and his dedication and knowledge was inspiring.

Then in the afternoon we went to listen to Michael Rosen talking about his book – Èmile Zola on the Run. I knew very little about Zola, but that did not matter – Michael Rosen can talk about anything at all and keep an audience spell-bound. It was a wonderful talk – he was serious and then he had us all laughing, he went from French to English and English to French. The research he has done is amazing, his enthusiasm is infectious. What a great personality he is.

And I found and bought a lovely book of his that I had not seen before. And he signed it with a message for my grandaughter. I am happy.
