Kumara

A few weeks ago either S or I bought a kumara (a sweet potato - Ipomoea batatus - brought to Aoteatoa, New Zealand, by Maori). It decided to sprout, and S put it in a bowl with water. Over the last two, at most three, weeks it has grown to this. Some surprise has been evinced that we have a kumara plant on the dining table. Daughter J told some of her friends that it is a biology experiment, and that was acceptable. Probably, telling the truth, which is we like it as a decorative plant, would make them doubt our sanity.
