Baby's First Shoe
Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we raise them. May we be them.
In honour of International Women's Day, I have chosen a white item that belongs to my very own strong girl.
This is the remaining one of my daughter's first pair of shoes. The other one was lost somewhere in Switzerland on a hot day in September 2010. At the time, she had the habit of taking her socks and shoes off in her buggy. After a long walk around the lake, we discovered the other shoe was missing so I returned to retrace our steps, asking every street vendor and cafe if anything had been found but to no avail. I was VERY attached to that first pair and had spent weeks searching for the right pair of shoes to fit my wee girl's feet and personality. It was also very difficult to find toddler girl shoes that weren't a sickly shade of pink, but that's another rant altogether! The missing shoe had 123 on it, instead of Abc, which I thought made them pretty unusual and well suited to a teacher's child.
