Diary of an Edinburgher

Party!

We met Bailey and her mum up the hill this morning, but it was SO windy, it was most unpleasant. We did find a seat which was a wee bit out of the wind and the dogs had a romp, but nobody felt like going to the very top.

I then did a few jobs, including booking our first few days excursions on the upcoming river cruise. I was somewhat not at all disappointed to find that the 'cook with a chef' option was fully booked (we didn't answer the email immediately), so we had to make do with a tour of a chateau, including a tasting session in their wine cellars instead...

JR made some delicious nibbles for the humans, and later in the afternoon we were invaded by doggies and their mums. They all came laden with presents for Archie, and presents for us. What fun! Elizabeth came too, so Archie was in heaven - he sat on her lap the whole time, and at one point he turned his head away, ignored everyone, and snoozed. What a wonderful host!

Molly was the last dog to arrive, and was greeted by three little doggies, two of them (Archie and Bailey) barking like mad, and Rufus joined in for the fun of it. But she was very good, remained calm in the face of this barrage of noise, and everything soon calmed down and all the dogs relaxed.

A very nice afternoon was had by all, especially the adults, with plenty of prosecco and nibbles. Molly quietly disembowelled the toy that she had just given to Archie hehehe...

After a few proseccos, the obligatory birthday photo was set up. What a riot! They were all very good, actually, especially Bailey - she knows the routine now, having put up with the indignity a few times since last year, when she ran round the garden before we could catch her for the photo.

Molly and Bailey are posing nicely, but Archie and Rufus look as though they're planning an escape. Everything was going well then the doggie carrot and peanut butter cake was put in front of them. Well, it was put in front of Molly, to be precise...

It proved toooooo tempting - she reached out and quietly snaffled a biscuit. Rufus - who had already managed to get rid of his hat - noticed, but was too polite to say anything. Dead funny!

Archie We will remember his third birthday - it was great!
