Barricades

Around this time of year the mean streets of Kirkwall become... well, mean.

I always think that some poor unsuspecting soul landing here in midwinter must think our capital is a rough and ready frontier town. It's not really, it's just a question of a wee event that happens on Christmas Day and Ne'erday.

All the doors and windows are barricaded, anything which can be damaged is removed from the streets, sides are taken, hip flasks filled and balls displayed.

If my lingering cold permits I shall venture forth in the name of blip.

Which leaves only one question.... UP or DOON?
