The Blue Lagoon

We spent almost the entire day at the Blue Lagoon.  It's a natural lava pool which was inadvertently created when a geothermal power plant was built nearby.  The water temperature is naturally maintained at around 37 degrees centigrade, so no matter what temperature it is outside, it is deliciously warm. The pool is very big, but with the steam, you can barely see the other people a lot of the time, even though there are probably hundreds of visitors at any time. The water contains silica and other minerals and is supposed to be very good for your skin.  Silica mud is available, as well as an algae mud mask, which you can see some of the ladies have tried. As we opted for the bathrobes, we were able to take a break and have lunch in the restaurant.  Oh...and that's a bar on the right.
