The backbone of the Wolds
Is the Chalk that lies only inches below the rich loam on the surface, revealed after ploughing to show the ancient seabed of the shallow tropical Sea from the Cretaceous period when giant marine reptiles would have swum over the area.
Soon this years crops will cover the chalk for another year.
This is in the area of Kiplingcoates, South Dalton, East Yorkshire.
I love the Mondrian forms and colours of this landscape!
