Middle eastern lunch

A lot of our favourite things, all in one meal. I'd picked some aubergines in the garden, which seemed well-timed for Yotam Ottolenghi's delicious charmoula aubergine recipe that I'd noticed on the Guardian site on Friday, the bulgur recipe from the same page, grilled red and yellow peppers, also straight from the garden, and yoghurt with garlic and paprika. And the lamb chops that LoJ was griddling as I took this photo.

The aubergine dish was one of the tastiest I've ever made - definitely recommended if you like spicy aubergines. I added extra garlic and used a whole pickled lemon rather than just the peel. We didn't eat all of these between the two of us - some are in the fridge for another treat tomorrow!
