Turf Locks
After my walk to the Double Locks on Saturday I thought i should also see the other canalside pub that was so popular in those student days. This afternoon was forecast to be overcast but dry. It turned out to be overcast and drizzly but hey ho, it was an enjoyable walk.
There's a good population of Brent geese that over winter on the Exe estuary and as the tide gets high, they all take off and rest in the surrounding fields. It sounds great as they come over. I only found that out as I got along the bank and by the time I was in the flyover zone, there were fewer coming over but it gave me some nice little groups. A flat sky meant they weren't all that distinct but I've put one in as an extra.
Turf Locks as it's known is a good walk either from the Starcross direction or from Countess Wear is a good walk but great on a summer afternoon or evening. I must pay a return visit on a better day.
