The First Day of Spring
It was Nick's birthday earlier in the week, so he gathered everyone down to Black Mountain Peninsula, next to Lake Burley Griffin, for a barbecue. There was football (both normal and Australian), nerf and cricket in addition to excess amounts of beer and barbecue food.
In perhaps a borderline racist way, I tried really hard to find some shrimps to bring along, but I couldn't :( There's always next time...
Days like this in England, due to a combination of weather and organisational skill, come around once, maybe twice a year, and only then in the heart of summer. Here we are starting early in spring.
After cycling home (on the road bike I borrowed from Werner - SO SMOOTH!) for a quick shower, I headed out to see Moonrise Kingdom, the new Wes Anderson film. I really enjoyed it, but not as much as his other films. It's definitely the kind of film where you massively benefit from watching it over a few times.
After the cinema I went for some drinks with Shelly and Werner and ended up cycling home at about 0230.
