Distant Crane

Not a bird, but this contraption appeared opposite us today in Paris 13e for the first time.  I'm not sure what the crane is hoisting.  Interestingly, the French synonym, grue, has the same double meaning.  Also intriguingly, the French phrase for a crane's foot, pied de grue, is the basis for our word pedigree; see the extra, with our friend David's slide from our joint presentation, "Birds and Words."

The map indicates the approximate location of the crane, not our apartment on Rue des Peupliers.
