The case of the missing A

I rang my dad this afternoon...
'Dad,' I started, 'What's my middle name?'
'Rachael' he said
'And how do you spell that?' I asked
Confused huff 'R.A.C.H.A.E.L'
'That's not how you got it spelt on my birth certificate dad.'

The process of applying for German citizenship is long winded and wrapped in many layers of red tape and bureaucracy, about the only paperwork they didn't seem to want was my cycling proficiency certificate. Today I received a letter from them telling me that the people with the toothcombs had spotted a discrepancy, my middle name has no A on my birth certificate but on my passport and marriage certificate it does...I have been told (!) to get a new birh certificate with the correct spelling on it...and then of course I have to get a certified translation to take in with the original.
