Vauxhall
I went up to London to see the David Hockney Exhibition at the Tate Britain today. It is a very extensive collection of his work through the various periods. I don't like all of it, and to my mind some of his stuff looks remarkably child-like, but when you enter the room with his sketches you then realise just how talented he is. He has always been an interesting figure and a bit controversial, but I would not say no to having one or two of his paintings!
I caught the train to Vauxhall and had an easy walk over the bridge to get to the museum. Walking back to the station again, I liked the strong side lighting as seen in this scene. I hoped this would qualify for the Mono Monday theme of 'small' by including the small beach along the Thames River! It was a bright and beautiful day with blue skies, but there is still a cold nip in the air.
As part of his four year Modern Languages degree, Luke has to spend the third year abroad in a country where his studied languages are spoken (French and German). Most students go to foreign universities or work at schools which is organised through the British Council, but Luke was determined to rather get some commercial experience and work. He has spent the last few months applying for jobs abroad which has not been easy as there are not many on offer to these students, but on Friday he was offered a terrific job in Berlin for 6 months - and today he was offered another job in Berlin so he ended up having a choice. That is the German side sorted, now waiting to hear from companies in Paris. I can feel a trip to Berlin coming on in the near future!
