Nesting up high
Got back from a shorter day than any day last week. Saw S off with one of her writers group to their fortnightly meeting to discuss and critique their work. Then got onto my bike and rode out to Point Chevalier shopping centre before heading back to Western Springs Lake.
High in a couple of trees were Karuhiruhi (Pied shags) in and by nests. Near to them, although slightly lower down the tree, were what appeared from where I was stood, Kawau tui (Little black shags). Away to the right was another tree where the small colony of spoonbills roost overnight; my extra for today is a shot of one of the seven or eight birds in the colony.
