Over the hills and far away

The dogs and I went exploring today, after leaving HH at the club, up one of the roads we discovered last week (here). It petered out into a dirt track leading to more ramshackle buildings before turning sharply uphill. Over the brow, we came upon this magnificent view and a well-laid but weed-filled cobbled road leading equally sharply downhill ... where to? My knees baulked at the idea of finding out, so I may never know.
The dogs set the dogs from the house at the top of the hill barking furiously and I could hear the owner shouting at them to go away. She was in the garden again as we came back and when I apologized to her for the disturbance she explained that people often come all the way up there to dump unwanted dogs. Her three, which were all still yapping madly, had all been abandoned up there, so when she saw our two, she thought they were just more strays and shooed them away because she couldn't face taking in any more.
Forgetting the sad detail of the abandoned pets, recollections of the wonderful rolling hills kept a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
