Seriously scuppered
Our plans to take a decent walk in the Pentlands today were completely scuppered by the bloody plumber. We got up early, went to the supermarket (before the alcohol purchasing time, so that was good for us...), and when we got back Mr A received a text saying that he'd had to divert to Dundee to sort out the lack of water in some student accommodation. Hmmm.... Both of us are now getting nasty flashbacks to the time we had a new bathroom put in the house in Leeds, and the man who was "managing" the process proved to be horribly unreliable and incapable of keeping the same workman on the job more than two days running. At one point, we were convinced that there had been flash floods or earthquakes on the M62 between Halifax and Leeds, so regularly did he disapear off the radar. Today promises to phone "after midday" were not made good on. Meanwhile, the lovely weather went to waste.
Well, anyway, we still have the other man coming round on Wednesday. We hope...
I felt pretty ropey early on, but after desultorily watching a rugby match I decided to go out for a walk just before the sun went down, and I enjoyed it very much. By that stage all of the clouds that were providing such a dramatic backdrop to Calton Hill in mid afternoon had disappeared.
Happy to have achieved 56k in a week.
