The Look Of Love
Sorry Gladys, no links today...
You may recall I went on a day course on bookbinding at Leeds School of Art last year which was fine, but prpoably tried to do too much in one day. Left me not quite sure which to take further. However, I am still keen to explore different ways of presenting my work.
What I did come away from that Leeds course with though, was an excitement for a form of bookbinding which is both very traditional, and at the same time quite achievable without masses of specialist equipment. That is, Japanese stab-bound books.
Anyway, unbeknown to me, J noticed a local day course in York Central Library on... Japanese Bookbinding - and enrolled me. Ah Love. And she who did push me to get the camera I use...
The course was fab; the tutor, Christine, was inspiring, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and opened our minds to an art-form which really is beautiful. The main image shows some of her work, the extra, well...
A touch of the Vapours? I really think so.
