Waxwing

After a rather unsuccessful shopping trip to buy Mum a new mobile phone, I took a slow and leisurely country route home.   We noticed groups of people wandering round some fields and congregating on a small hill, and heading round a bend in the road came across a car park, and we decided to investigate further.

It turned out to be a "Community Woodland" managed by the Forestry Commission: Jeskyns.  There was a small cafe, and way marked routes round the site ranging from 0.5miles to over 6miles or more, and the site near the car park was busy with dog and kid walkers (a great area for allowing both to let off steam!)

After a welcome coffee, I left Mum back at the car enjoying the radio and her Kindle, while I took a brief stroll round.  It's not a wonderfully photogenic area, but I was thrilled to see a flock of, to me, unusual birds. These turned out to be Waxwings, a winter visitor from Russia or Scandinavia.  The extra shows part of the flock roosting in a tree
